cleaning the water storage tank

How often does everyone clean the water tank and what is the best way to do so?

If you filter your water going into the tank all you need to do is sanitize when you fill it. Unless you have very very bad water that is.

I will usually toss about a cup of bleach in the fresh water tank at the storage yard ( I always return the trailer to the storage yard with the tank full) and then drive it home making sure to slosh it around. When I get home, I open the valve to drain and let it empty while we get the trailer ready for our trip. Once empty.... with a campco hose end filter on the garden hose I begin to fill it and after about 30 seconds I close the drain valve and fill the tank. Then I will flush the lines in the sinks and shower and empty the gray tank. I put a tablespoon of bleach in the full tank to sanitize and use. This is in season when using the trailer, obviously I don't store it in the winter full of water. Hope this helps.
