Considering BH 3010RE

I am seriously considering the purchase of a new 3010RE after the first of the year. I'm not really in love with the idea of drum brakes - Does anyone know if I can order disc brakes as an option from the factory ? If so, what would they cost ?
Also - I know how the electric drum brakes work (are actuated) but how do disc brakes work on trailers ? Are they electric too ? Or are they hydraulic surge brakes such as I've had on boat trailers ?

Thanks much.

Disc brakes are not an option....but we had 8k axles with 3 1/4 inch electric brakes installed...they work VERY well...great stopping power.

I installed disc brakes on my Bighorn. Others on this forum have as well.
They are not the surge type that you have used on you boat trailers.
They work with a hydraulic/electric actuator.
You step on the brake pedal and your brake controller sends a signal to the actuator. It in turn produces the appropriate pressure to the calipers.
They work very well.

You might ask your dealer if they can install them before you take delievery. Have them put them in the deal and maybe have them do it for free to you. Never hurts to ask.
