Defrosting the Fridge

Hi,
Here is a kind of silly question for you....How do you defrost the fridge when it is built in and you can't unplug it.
Told you it was silly.
D:eek:

D... Some units have a self defrost feature (check out your users manual). I'm sure it plugs in somewhere, remove the vent door on the outside of your rig and you will probably see a plug and where it plugs in. Then pull it out. If all else fails flip the breaker. Good luck!

Press the power button on the front panel to turn it off. This will turn off both the fridge and freezer, so you'll need to keep the fridge door closed until the freezer has finished defrosting. We try to do it when the fridge doesn't have too much in it. The fridge will stay cold for several hours, if the door is kept closed. We keep blue ice packs in the freezer, so we can move stuff to a cooler for a while, if need be.

From the Dometic manual in the Tools tab:
Defrosting
Shut off the refrigerator. (Press the ON/OFF button
to the OFF position.)
Empty the refrigerator.
Leave the cabinet and freezer doors open and place
the drip tray under the finned evaporator.
Defrosting time can be reduced by filling the ice
trays with hot water and placing them in the freezer
compartment.

Gosh aren't we campers, empty the fridge or freezer into a cooler, Walmart cooler bag, Costco cooler bag whatever, now we are still fashionistas or have a teen with a hair dryer, thaw any frosty areas in freezer area or the grills at the top in the fridge part and VOILA done in ten minutes....15 max and no spoiled food

Just did ours yesterday.... The freezer didn't have any frost, just the fins in the frig. Turned the frig off using the on/off button. Ours is located in the freezer. Kept the frig door open. Left the contents alone. Ice melted on the fins in about an hour and the water drained out the drip tray. Turned it back on and closed the door. Contents stayed cool enough. Feezer items stayed frozen with freezer door closed. No problemo.
