Determining loaded 5th wheel pin weight

Jeff, one thing you might look at is the tire size on your truck. If you are still running the 245's, then go to the 265's. The have a higher weight rating. Mine are load range LT- E and have a load rating at 3450# per tire at 80 #. That gives you almost 7K on the rear axle. Just an idea. Bob

I will ad my $0.02 to the thread. We have a Augusta (same as the 3670RL) and our pin weight is right at 20% of our trailer weight, but we are loaded VERY nose heavy, We have the stacked W/D in the front closet and the L/P generator in the front storage bin, and a ~300# tool box in the front part of the main basement storage. Being full-timers we have a lot of "stuff" stored and are very close to the GVWR of the trailer and thus over the GCVWR of most 1-tons and that is why we have a F-450. IF you are packing real light and "lightly" optioned your pin weight should be within the 15-20% of the trailer weight.
