Disc Brake help!

We had problems with our Dexter brakes in June. They are supposed to self-adjust and did not. After a while braking was almost non-existent. The brakes were adjusted but were determined to be out of round, so Dexter replaced the brake assemblies. The new parts barely worked after install, generating a call to Dexter for help. A Dexter engineer asked us to try an extensive break-in procedure (on back roads). After we followed the Dexter engineer's break-in suggestion, the brakes began working great and have continue to work great for several thousand miles since. The trailer weighs in at 15,000# and at 5mph manually pulling the brake controller jerks us to a very hard stop.

In our case, disc brakes were not needed to solve the problem.
