Door Keys

I have voiced the opinion that the front and rear door should be keyed the same. In addition, I am having trouble making copies. Home Depot and local hardware store do not have the blanks.

Has anyone successfully rekeyed a door and gotten duplicates so that the whole fam damily can have a key, and they are all the same?

Your best bet is to go to a RV parts/service facility for a key or blank. A locksmith might have one also.

Prior FEMA guy here who used to mess with the TT's. locksmith should be able to make keys for you with no problem. If you want to change out the entire locking mech, you can do so but it involves changing the entire door hardware and of course you can get that from most dealers just make sure that it is same key code, if it is a FIC key (black square key) the code is on the base near where you place your fingers. There used to be only 51 different sets, not sure if they changed.

Keep in mind the deadbolt and door lock are different even though they use the same key. RV dealers have a 'master' key that will open the door lock but will not open the deadbolt. Don't know how it works but that is what several RV Dealers have told me.

AWESOME! One new lock for the front door, keyed to match the back door and four keys for each member of the family, with built in LED for $41 including shipping. Leaves me with four original keys as spares, and a lock with two keys to e-bay.

Thank you!

Thanks for this thread. We just bought a 2014 4100 HD and thought they messed something up at the factory as it didn't make any sense to me to have different keys for the front and back doors. We take it out for the first trip this weekend and are looking forward to our new camper!

Vindex, welcome to the 4100 Club. This seems to be a very popular floor plan. Yes the key thing is a little annoying. I have yet to change mine, but will do so now that Oscar reminded us about RVLocksandmore.com.
