My question is (and don't laugh) is which way does the gasses flow through the cross over tube or do they flow back and forty? Here while back I had a whistle and still do that was heard when the engine brake was used. A couple of days ago I was looking around the egr valve with a light and mirror and found soot in a large area where the cross over tube connects to the egr valve. The tube seems tight but don't know if the gasket is leaking. I cleaned off all the soot with carb cleaner and now am driving it again but no soot with normal driving. I'm going to drive it now and use the engine brake and start checking for soot. I was curious about the flow direction in the tube. Oh and would this area be getting high pressure during engine brake usage? Thanks and sorry for being long winded.
