Electric Brake Controller

Hey,

Don't the 2010 Dodge trucks also have a built-in brake controller? Any built-in controller is gonna be better than the best after market controller.

Beginning with the 2010 model year, an integrated trailer brake controller is a $230 option on the 2500 and 3500 Dodge trucks. For the 1500 you have to order the $550 trailer control group which gets you a couple of other doodads.

Chevy IBC...

I agree the Chevy IBC works great. Our 2008 Chevy 3500HD had the IBC and worked great, on electric brakes. However we had Disk Brakes and at the time the GM IBC didn't work with the IBC. Had to go back to the Prodigy. GBY...

Tekonsha P3 Controller on eBay

Saw these on eBay...first link is for controller only...the second link is for the controller and the plug in harness. The one listed is for a Dodge but they also listed them for Ford and Chevy. Prices seemed pretty good!

I've used the Brake Smart controller since 06, it is far superior than most other brands. The Max Brake mentioned in a post by dieselengineer works the same as Brake Smart by using brake fluid pressure to sense braking needs. The Brake Smart was over $400 when I bought mine, the Max Brake sells for about $350.

The BrakeSmart enhances these systems because we measure the brake pressure of the tow vehicle then give a signal (voltage) that is proportionate to both this pressure reading and what the trailer is asking for. All of this is independent of pedal travel, vehicle or controller attitude.

Don't go cheap on a controller when you are trying to stop 11 tons +/-.

I had a prodigy and it was awesome in the van. It had the digital display and worked great. The new truck has a factory installed controller and so far no problems with it either. Pulling a 28ft RLS North Trails

Thanks for all the advice!.... I should have posted earlier, but I bought the P3 about 3 weeks ago. We bought a 2011 North Trail 21fbs yesterday... Whohoo, we pick it up this coming Tuesday!

You mean to tell me I could saved $75.00 for my new PRODIGY from ebay and just went out and bought a $45,000.00 Ford and got one for free !
Who-knew !!
