Entertainment area cabinets too small

I thought I would share our solution to this problem. We also have 2011 3450 with a cabinet designed too small to fit our DISH satellite receiver. Since we both find it more comfortable to sit at the dining table to use our laptop, my husband took the slideout desk top completely out of the entertainment center and added a bottom to the resulting hole to hold our receiver. It works for us...

Regarding the heat that is created by the DVR we installed a PC fan(12v), drilled largish holes in the shelf and largish(1.5") holes between the TV and the components. We have always been concerned about the amount of heat generated by the DVR. I wonder why so much heat is generated, it is just electronics and a hard disk, computers don't generate that much heat.
