I have been looking through the forum looking for an area that has campgrounds that one has been too. We travel alot and have certain campgrounds that we stop at, and some we stopped at and will never go back to. Does anyone want to share their favorites.

Misty Mountain Campground in Greenwood/Crozet VA.

Very close to Wintergreen Ski resort, Charlottesville, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Walton's Mountain... so much to see and do but even if you never leave the campground it is awesome. Mountain stream runs through the property, nice sites, super friendly folks. We've stayed there many times and it has never dissapointed.

7th Ranch Campground, Garryowen, Montana. Closest to Custer battleground, long gravel sites, most with trees, friendly staff.

Good to hear there are so many votes for Williston - we'll be there for the winter.

Traverse Bay RV Resort gets our vote as well.

Aces High in East Lyme Ct. We spent a couple of weeks there in May. Had a great time fly fishing in their lake. This place is also a short drive to visit Newport, RI and lots of great fishing lakes and spots in Ct.

Pagosa Riverside Campground in Pagosa Springs, CO is very scenic and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. Right on the San Juan River.

you said you will be in Williston this winter. We go every year. Will be there November thru early April. Will see you there.

When we leave the Upper Peninsula in fall,for Texas, we go to Lakewood Campground in Effingham, IL.. It is an overnite stay, but really close to Walmart and restaruants..
The next stop is Sikeston, MO... Hinton RV right off interstate, nice clean and friendly and close to Lamberts Throwed Rolls...
Then we go to Texrkana... Sunrise Rv.. another great one for one night, right off Interstate, nice gravel sites..
Shady Pines is another great place and sometimes we spend 2 days there.That is in Texrkana also.
Victoria, Texas is a great place and very friendly....Gateway to the Gulf...on Hwy 59 We always take Hwy 59 through Houston, we plan it so we just go right thru and no traffic.. fast and saves money on tolls and time.

Then there is Bucky's...in Wharton. That is a must. What a great place to fuel up and get some good sandwiches and meat, cheese and sausage. The have huge and very clean bathrooms...

There are a number if Bucky's fuel stops in Texas... Do stop in and check them out...

We love Priests Gulch in Deloris, CO and also Ridgway State Park in Ridgway, CO, in California Faria Beach is the best views you will get of the Ocean. It also has water, electric, sewer and cable tv with a screen saver picture right out the back window of your 5ver. Great Place to watch whales, dolphins and seals. Dead Horse Ranch in Cottonwood, AZ is great also, check it out and of course Fool Hollow in Show Low, AZ is great too. There are so many great places to camp in the USA, sure beats a motel for sure!!

A really nice resort nearby to us, we endorse Mill Creek Ranch Resort in Canton, TX. Location for a few of the Texas Chapter Rallies!

We love Durango Riverside Resort in Durango, Colorado, on the banks of the Animas River. It's our park of choice in the summer in Durango.

We enjoyed Cloud 9 RV Park in Hot Springs, AR. Away from it all, a great little park with scenic views and great sites.

Tiger Run Resort in Breckenridge, CO was great in the winter, and I'm sure Danemayer will tell you it's great in the summer, too!

Sky Mountain RV Park in Chama, NM was a great little park. Got to see a pair of foxes tending to their den in an old tree nearby our site.

Rafter J Bar Ranch in Hill City, SD. Pick "the Island" area, it was wonderful, a lot more spread out and kind of away from everything. Good family park with lots of amenities.

The Oasis RV Resort in Amarillo, TX. For not having much to look at in flat treeless west Texas, they've done a great job at making a nice park. Very large sites, all concrete. Nice amenities.

Tyler State Park, Tyler, TX. Pick the Big Pine Loop for great pull through sites in the piney woods of East Texas. The lake is small and great for canoes and kayaks. Also have great trails.

Choctaw KOA in Durant, OK. A very nice and well-maintained park with shuttle to the Choctaw casino.

Thanks for the tip on Faria Beach. As a lifelong Californian I had never heard of this one. I found 3 beaches on the same Ventura County website, one of them an old strip of the Pacific Coast Highway with 127 boondocking spaces at $27 instead of the $47 full hookup rate. I think I will see if I can detour to check these out on my Temecula trip next month.

If your talking about Emma Woods, it is very nice also, right on the beach but no services...none! Hobson Park is right up (North) of both Emma Woods and Faria park and they also have electric and water I believe. Outside sites have nothing but are closer to the beach.

New York campgrounds

My wife and I have only been doing this for a few years, but a couple of our favorite campgrounds are Ferenbaugh near Corning/ Watkins Glen, and Chenango Valley State Park near Binghamton.

We like Indian Point CG (COE) in Branson, MO. Near Silver Dollar City, & not too far from the strip. Sites are spread out, price is reasonable, no hustle & bustle & not a bad drive to the shows.
Also like Ridgway SP in Ridgway, CO a lot to see & do in the area & most of the 1st True Grit movie was filmed in Ridgway & surrounding area.
Mueller SP also in CO is a real nice CG, near Cripple Creek, & Colorado Springs
Other state parks in MO: Bennett Springs (trout fishing), Watkins Mill, Wallace, Long Branch, Pershing SP-haven't camped there in the 5er, but tent camped there with the Boy Scouts when my son was a Scout. Interesting park, with Gen. "Black Jack" Pershing's boyhood home near there, along with Walt Disney's boyhood home near by, also JC Penny's home town in the area. Also there is one of the few remaining covered bridges left in MO near there.
