Finally got our Newport

We ordered a Newport at the national rally this summer and picked it up last week in Elkhart from Tiara RV. There are a few changes from the show model at the rally, which is normal for the industry. As Heartland continues to grow they need to step up their PDI/inspects of coaches. I know this is an on going discussion by many Heartland owners. Our issues should have been detected prior to delivery. Our black tank flush system was connected wrong, we have 2 black tanks on the Newport, and the water pump switches were wired incorrectly. The other issues were minor. Tiara RV resolved the problems before we departed and installed an A/C vent in the front closet. We also had Jay at Twin Lakes RV Repair install a cheap heat system.

Some of the updates are a tilt bed (provides a lot more room in bedroom) the furniture is comfortable and there is no longer a sleeper in the sofa (some people may not like this). The Morryde zero G steps are solid but we did park on an unlevel surface and discovered the entry door would not close. We are still getting use to the wind resistant hinged entry door.

Pictures below, if they loaded correctly. :) The front closet before and after the washer/dryer were installed. The fireplace no longer has the shelf/ledge below it and the TV is now pushed to the front of the slide.

Congrats. Great looking unit. Sounds like the PDI went pretty good. Overall, how did you like your experience buying from them?

The bathroom on your rig is different from any Newport I have saw yet. This is the 3rd design I have saw on the 2018's. The new design I thought was that the washer/dryer had its own closet by the sink in the bathroom with a door. There was also a full length window between the sink and closet. The floorplan on their site shows this and the new rig pictures at dealers I have saw show this. Wish they would make up their mind.

Congrats again and let us know if you find any other new changes.

Congrats Randy and thanks for sharing the pics. I like the entertainment center in yours. But I like the front bath in ours. I also like your window trim. Look forward to seeing it somewhere. Hope you're hitting the rally trail with it in 2018 :)

Thanks everyone. As far as Tiara RV, they let us spend a full day on Saturday going thru the rig. I used the PDI sheet that Oregan camper posted on the forum as a guide. The weather in Elkhart did not allow us to stay in the rig, temperatures were not above freezing and in the teens at night, plus snow. Tiara did keep the rig inside until we left their facilities, that was a plus. We also unloaded our truck inside. I would rate Tiara is a good dealer that fixed the problems we found. The reason we travel from Texas to purchase from Tiara is the special that was offered during the rally. The show special included Morryde IS, Morryde disk brakes, Morryde slideout tray and Goodyear tires plus other items some that are now standard equipment.

Jim, think we would prefer your fireplace TV arrangement better and our front walk-in closet is very nice. The wife has lots of room to store things. 😊. There is always something that you would like to change. 😊

Congrats on your new rig! Really looks nice! We are glad they changed the bathroom back to having more cabinets. Still happy we bought one off the lot with the old bathroom layout as my wife Loves it! And not liking that there is no rear sleeper sofa - need that for the daughter and granddaughter!
Good Luck and hope to see you at a rally.

Happy Holidays!!

Have any other pics of the bathroom and fireplace?

If you are using an iPhone, try doing a minor edit including rotating the picture correctly (even if already correct, rotate 360 degrees) then save it.

Poofam, I purchased mine at the national rally when they had special pricing. Amazon sales the system and it take approximately 8 to 10 hours for installation @ 125.00 per hour for labor (labor rate will depend on where you live).

If you use an installer who has done a lot of Cheap Heat installs, they'll probably be a lot faster and cost less.

I believe RV Comfort Systems has partnered with an installer an hour east of Elkhart. I don't remember his name, but he's one choice.

RVsForLess in Knoxville, TN has also done quite a few. I talked to them in early 2016 and on a new LM they may be able to do an install in 5-6 hours.

Rvs for Less got one a little over a week ago from factory and it had the 1/2 cabinet, big window and seperate closet for washer. So I wonder what the floor plan is. Website shows the seperate closet. Did the op get a one off build? If they did change to the ops version, that means the new closet they designed lasted a little over a month before it was changed. From looking, I think I like the ops version better too.

With the change to the TV in living room, being out further, is there some kind of storage behind it now? If you get a chance and could post more pics I would appreciate it. Great looking rig inside and out.

Congrats on the new rig. We've had our '17 Newport 10 months now and are loving it. Looking forward to going back on the road after the holidays! Double sinks in the master bathroom would be a plus!

Nice pics Randy! I love your new Entertainment area because of the extra depth you get in storage behind the TV and in the cabinets.

The sofa in the rear cap, do the 2 end seats recline? I'd love that, though I do get that some need a sofa bed.

Thanks for the extra pics. I like it. Like the storage behind the TV. I prefer the reclining seats on the couch to a bed as we never use the bed in ours. Looks like some good changes, hope this is the new version. Now, to make sure wife doesn't see this as it will cost me money.

Yes, each end of the coach recline the same as the theater seats. They (all 4 seats, 2 on coach and 2 on theater seat) have recline up/down, heat, lights underneath, massage and a lock out button.
