Fore and Aft Adjustment on Hitch

Just put my rig up and I noticed on the Curt Q16 set up with the OEM pucks for my 2014 Ram SWB that there are extra holes in the sides. Looks like you could move the hitch fore and aft by 1". There seems to be plenty of clearance in a tight turn with the rig and cab. It appears the hitch is just in front of the axle now and I was thinking that if I moved it forward and gained another inch with the weight forward it would improve the handling. It seems to be fine now. But being new at this, if I could shift the weight another inch in front of the axle, wouldn't that be beneficial? Thanks in advance.

I read somewhere that moving it forward an inch will only shift about a hundred pounds to the front axle. I don't know if this is true or not. If it handles and rides fine now i would leave it alone...Don

I have a Q series Curt hitch and although there are some extra holes in the side plates for the legs, they are not spaced to be able to move the head.
Check yours closely.

Peace

I see what you mean. Guess I didn't look close enough. I could add a rear hole to match the one in the front but maybe better to just leave alone. Thanks for the reply.

I have the CURT system too, and I have adjustment for going up or down....but not forwards or backwards.
