Hi, I am new here, and just wanted to get some information. My freezer has stopped working. The bottom is still getting cold, and the freezer is cold but will not freeze. Does anyone have a answer for me. Thanks jyjyjy

Hi jy,

What make/model refrigerator do you have and how old is it?

Are you running on 110V or on propane? Does it do the same thing in either mode?

And what outside/inside temps are you experiencing?

How long has it been on?? And did you let it cool down and load cold stuff in it?? Or just turn it on ,load it with warm or hot stuff??

Hi, I have a 2010 Heartland, Country Ridge. The make is Estate, 18ATR, Model# T8TXNWFW800. I am running on 110V am out of propane. I did notice a few days before it stopped freezing, it really froze some ice cream drumsticks. It is still cold, but not frozen. Thank you so much for your response. Judy

Judy, if the change in freezer performance is related to the switch from propane to electric, you may have a problem with the electric heating element.

But with RV Gas/Electric refrigerators, the cooling unit usually cools the freezer area first, and then the refrigerator area. So it's unusual to have a situation where the freezer doesn't cool well, but the refrigerator does. Also, the refrigerator doors usually get opened more frequently than the freezer doors.

You may have an air leak with the freezer door(s). One clue that might confirm this would be an unusually frost buildup in the freezer. Something may be holding the door open slightly, or one of the seals might have come loose.

Hi, thanks for your response. I never turned the propane on., it has always been on electric. And, there is no ice buildup in the freezer. I have noticed in the last few days when I take out my water bottle and open it, their is ice in the bottle. But it is not frozen. Judy

I would try it on propane for a couple of days, maybe your electric heating element has lost some heating power. More heat = more refrigeration in these ammonia adsorption refrigerators.
I did some Google searches on this make/model. I could find the Estate brand, but not the model you cited, and all of the Estate refrigerators on their website were compressor/freon types, not ammonia adsorption type.

Based on some research, and considering this reefer is in a Country Ridge, this looks like the Whirlpool (also sold as a Kenmore and a Roper) Estate, 18 cubic foot, household type reefer. It sounds like the coils may be freezing up. There are user replaceable parts that would probably fix this, but you need a bit of general electrical and mechanical knowledge to work on it. I suggest calling a competent appliance repair shop for this.
