Generator

I have a 2017 T285 Toy Hauler. My generator will not stay running after an hour. It starts to sound like it is vapor locking and then shuts down. Dealer said they had to run the fuel line differently and that didn’t fix it. Not only that when running the generator it fills the cabin with CO2 and sets off the detector. Has anybody else experienced this? And if so what was the fix?

Hi Akhourigan,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

I'm sure someone with a generator will jump soon with some info to help out.

Enjoy the forum.

I have absolutely no first hand knowledge on this ... but I am aware of mowers/ lawn tractors having similar problems when the vented fuel tank cap becomes stopped up. Maybe (just maybe) you have a similar/ simple problem? A simple test is to run it without the cap in place.

Also, because it is that important, I'd double check the generators exhaust plumbing AND add a couple of additional/ cheap CO2 sensors;
you don't want to wake up dead.
