This will be our first long haul trip. We want to get to near Boston quickly early Sept and stay until the middle of Oct to catch the leaves. Should we be reserving campgrounds well in advance?

We are planning go well West of NJ Turnpike and Metro New York

Any comments welcomed

81 as far as you can until it is time to turn right, 88 in NY. Unless you have a desire to hit any sites in CT. And if you have the time, money and the interest, Mystic Seaport area.

We head up to Maine every year during Sept., sometimes 2nd week sometimes last week. We make reservations since the weekends can still be busy that time of year but during the week shouldn't be much of a problem.Sept. and early Oct is a very nice time to be there. After Columbus Day most Campgrounds close . Matter of fact Mainers seem to turn off the lights and rollup the sidewalks after mid Oct.
We like to stay on the Coast around the Wells area. Short drives to see the leaves changing and real close to fresh Lobsta' .Don't miss the Marginal Way in Oqunquit, about a mile walk along the rocky coast from in town to Perkins Cove.
Expect to go again this year around 3rd week, could see you there! Post if you need any help with campgrounds.
