You are correct on the load rating for the LT/235, I was quoting the weight capabilityof the LT225. I'm no tire expert by any means, but it seems like if there was away, they would have already come up with a good tire for RV trailer applications. I suspect that the problem lies in the sidewall construction. To carry the additional weight requires beefing up the sidewall, but then you run into a problem of dissipating the heat. Boost the air pressure up to 110# and you cut down the sidewall flex and heat, but you give up the smoother ride. Maybe if they went to a 17.5 or 19.5 tire they would solve the problem and the cost difference would be minimal.

That's why the XPS Ribs are so good. The side wall construction is beefed up.

Leaving the Vernal rally the tread pealed off rear tire and doing $3000 worth of damage to my landmark plus$660 for tire and wheel. I made a claim with goodyear. The tires were less than three years old with 6000 miles. I received a letter from goodyear stating the tire did not qualify for settlement because tread separated was caused because of hazard and loss of air pressure. So much for goodyear tires. They were g rated 614. Floyd

Sorry to hear about your tires and damage to your trailer. I hope you get everything back to normal soon. Some here mention about Michelin Rib tires. After being educated further with that tire and another similar to the ribs is the Bridgestone Duravis M700 HD. I ended up purchasing these over the Michelin due to a little savings. They are essentially the same tires, specs, ratings and both tires are manufactured under one roof. I did not look up the details of both companies, but they are the same tire company. I have a thread labeled Bridgestone M700 is you wanted to search for it here. I also have pics that I posted if you are curious.

Take care,

Al

God love them, tire companies can do more side stepping than the old Texas Sheriff Ed Earl. I had a semi trailer, go less than 100 miles after they mounted a tire on it. Threw the tread, which flipped around and jammed between a brake shoe and the drum. It caught fire almost instantly which caught the floor on fire, which spread to the load. Complete loss almost. The tire company refused liablity because they said if failed because of lack of air caused by road hazard. Then I sent them a picture of the only thing that didn't burn, the tire casing (minus tread) with a 110# of air in it. They wrote me a check for the damage. One of the few times I've ever collected from them.

I lost the tread on a GY614 but it didn't loose air pressure, GY paid for all the damage. Al, Floyds rig is a Landmark so he needs a G-rated tire.

Had the same thing happen to us with our G614's and filed the claim with GoodYear both times and they paid the claim. Part of the process was to take the damaged carcass to a GoodYear dealer and they help with the claim.
