HOC is "Too Expensive" for value I receive

Just received my notice that my introductory 1 year membership is due to expire. I am not going to renew my membership for the simple reason that I think it is way too expensive for the value received. About the only thing I have used in the membership is the forum where I have researched a couple of items. But $70.00 for one year IMHO is excessive. We are a member of Good Sam and participate with a local chapter in monthly campouts so we are not full-timers. The forum is a great idea but not worth the money required to participate. Thank you for the invitation. Bill & Sandy Hatfield

Re: Too Expensive

You do not have to be a member of the Heartland Owners Club to participate here on the forum.
Everyone is welcome.
No dues of fees here. The $70 is for the HOC only.

Peace
Dave

Re: Too Expensive

Hi Bill,

The $70 not only covers a year of membership, but the largest part of it is for one time stuff including your Owner's Plaque and name tags. The annual renewal for following years is very reasonable.

The renewal rates are:

  • $10 - 1 Year
  • $18 - 2 Years
  • $26 - 3 Years

Don't forget the potluck meals, other goodies, and fellowship at HOC rallies that are part of being a member in the club.
You also receive a discount on any parts you would need and order from Heartland.

Re: Too Expensive

I'm not much of a socializer but I must say that we really enjoyed the Heartland Owners Rally here in Oklahoma. I thought the $70.00 was pretty reasonable for what you get. Everyone made us welcome, and the free fish fry was outstanding. I probably ate $70.00 worth of fish. I would encourage you to go to one rally.

You can't go to just one rally. It get's contagious. Like they said earlier, the forum is free and the HOC is well worth the money spent. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Too Expensive

I had been a frequent poster, but not a paid HOC member until I went to the Sparks, Nevada Regional Rally in 2011. I paid may $70 for 3 years, and AT THAT ONE RALLY me and my friend got:2 Casino buffet tickets valued at $25 each, 2 Casino show tickets valued at $30 each, a nice gift ($25 range) at the potluck dinner, and Heartland provided all of the meats to be barbecued at the potluck dinner. I have attended many rallies since then, including a National rallies in Gillete, Wyo. (2012), and Goshen, Ind. (2013) where Heartland Service came to our rigs and fixed 2 problems each for free. One of my problems at the Goshen rally was my large rear day and night window shade. Heartland didn't get the shade done in Goshen, but SHIPPED this large, heavy, article to me in California at no charge. So, my HOC membership, with the 21 rallies I have attended, has been nothing but a profit center for me.
