Holes in side of fridge?

I've just noticed some holes in the side of the fridge.

Is this normal? If they are what purpose do they serve?

One looks like is not a uniform shape and the other does.

I just looked at our fridge. What we have are what looks like catches for the door latch in the event the door was mounted to swing the other way. What you may have are the same thing but just the holes minus the latch piece that fits the hole. Look at the opposite side frame where your doors latch and see if they aren't at about the same height.
