How to reset furnace?

Furnace has worked fine for a week, then this morning stopped working.

We have lots of propane, stove lights, water heater works. Furnace fan blows (10 seconds) but won't ignite. Is there a reset procedure? I've read about a manual valve somewhere?

Any help would be appreciated...

No valve involved. Turn it off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on. There is also a manual reset high limit, if I recall correctly. Check the schematic, it will show you where it is electrically, at least.

This has happened to us several times. Pull the furnace fuse in your fuse panel box and wait for a couple of minutes reinsert fuse and start furnace. Hope this helps.

Had that problem with our 2011 Elk Ridge 27RLSS. They had to replace the "brain" on the furnace.

Mine would not ignite no matter how long I waited. Did you get any solution to this. I have a month to figure it out. It is under warranty, but I'm not sure I even want to deal with that headache, especially since I'll probably end up paying for the cost of labor to fix it anyway.

Wait, did I miss something? Why would you pay for labor, if it's under the 1 year warranty from Heartland? I've never paid for any labor under the 1 year warranty.

Doesn't have to go to a Heartland dealer if it's under warranty. The furnace is warranted by the furnace mfg. I had a problem with my water heater and had it fixed at a certified RV appliance repair shop nearby. They took care of all the warranty paperwork. Cost me $0 and got fast service besides....Don

I'll call around to check into the warranty issue. It is under the Subarban Warranty. The Heartland warranty expired. Just so you know why I'm skeptical, the last time I took it in for Warranty work, the dealer ripped me off and it took a fight with them to get it somewhat squared away. I lost a hubcap and they charged me for repacking the bearings as if the hubcap was a bearing seal. When I told them my tank sensors were misadjusted they charged me $100 just to tell me they were working as crappy as they were supposed to work. I was charged $100 for labor because they didn't find a problem, but when I looked under the trailer you could tell they never even removed the insulated cover from the trailer. Very bad experience! I got the repack removed from the bill. I told them I'm not an idiot and know better than that and if their "mechanic" didn't know better than that then he was an idiot.

You probably have a surbuban furnance? First, check your safety exhaust paddle switch and the other two limit switches. Next, determine that your igniter is working propertly. If all are working correctly, then you need a new furnace controller. BTW, Heartland is notorious for using old style furnance controllers, not sure if it is Heartland's fault because the controller comes with the furnance unit that Heartland installs at the factory. You can order a "state of the art" universal controller (about $100) for your furnance model and replace the old style controller. Any a/c or heating specialists can do this for you, and of course, your RV dealership technitian can do this, but all Heartland can do is remove the entire unit (in about 5 mins) and you send it back to Suburban for the warranty work. Reset switch? there is one... but you have to determine the source of the problem requiring the reset! or else the problem will not be resolved.

What is a "state of the art" controller? What is the difference? I thought furnaces were pretty simple minded, turn the thermostat up, runs until the thermostat tells it to quit........

Our furnaces, very much like the reefer, have an electronic control board telling it how to function. Not quite the same as the thermostat. Next time you turn on your furnace, listen to it and you'll hear the fan kick on. After a few seconds, it ignites. When the t'stat tells the furnace to stop, the burner stops but the fan continues to cool off the heat box then shuts down. Actually it's a pretty technical operation.

OK. I understand that now. but what does a "state of the art" controller change/do vs. what came with the furnace? Just curiosity, feel I might be missing something important.
