Hydraulic leg cozy?

I am getting a little tired when the RV is in storage (or in use for that matter) of getting down on all fours and cleaning my front hydraulic rams. Since there is always a film of oil on them they are a magnet for grass clipping and other stuff. I am sure my problem is nothing like those with the level up system.

I am curious if anyone has come up with an easy way to cover them once they are "set". I keep wandering around the big box stores looking for an inspiration but have not found one yet.

Anyone have a clever idea?

If your looking for something premade but not necessarily designed for this purpose, How about gaiters?
They are typically sold for skiing or hiking but I am sure there are other uses that they are designed for.

They come in all sorts of lengths. You may even be able to keep them on your jacks all the time since they are flexible.

Here is a couple of examples.

My first thought is why do you have a film of oil?

Then on to your question, why not a pool float-noodle?
3 bucks, a razor blade and you have enough for two legs.

Duane....granted I don't run my fingers up and down the ram.....but I just made the assumption since this was a hydraulic system there would be "oil" on the rams. I know there are seals in the system....but I guess I thought they were not perfect.

All I know is the grass sticks like it is being "held" there. But in fact....I don't have any runs or drips.

I like the pipe insulation idea....need to check out what diameters they come in. I put some on my PEX lines to help keep dishwasher running better so I know they come in 1/2". Need to check out larger.

The noddle is a good idea too....have several of them around for holding things in place. Their hole might be too small. But then again what I am trying to solve is the "frontal attack"....so if there was gap in the back probably not a big deal.

I also remember there is a "foam" store/place on the way to storage....it has always impressed me as "Architectural" foam....they might have something too.

Thanks everyone!

This makes sense now. Cut grass will stick to anything, the rams do not have to be damp, especially if the grass is cut early. And it sticks like glue.

The noodles if you are interested, come in two sizes. The larger one would probably work for what you are trying to accomplish.
