Thank you so much Fonz46 and everyone! We are planning to start and hopefully finish the project this Tuesday. Promise to post plenty of pics in case anyone is considering doing this as well.

I did ours the same way but removed 12 in on one side. Then I moved the frame by 6 inches. This made the headboard and side tables centered. Then I rearranged the under bed storage area by dropping the bottom by 6 inches. We have the hydraulic bedroom slide.
