Max cooling for a hot RV?

This question might be more "technique" than "science" but thought I'd ask it anyway.

If you're cooling a hot RV, is it better to turn the air conditioning unit down to the lowest possible temp until it reaches your comfort zone or is it better to step down the temperature?

For example: you have a RV with a 100 interior temp, should you set the A/C to 85, let it reach that temp, then set it to 75, let it cool to that temp, etc.?

Just put it where you want it and leave it.

set it at the desired temp and open the roof vents to help vent some of the excessive heat.

Set the temp where you want it and open the ceiling Fantastic Fan vent and vent hot air out until the unit begins to cool. Then you can close the roof vent. Works for us.

If you're traveling in a hot climate you can open the rear vent or a window to let wind from going down the highway pull the hot air out of the trailer. You can also open a Fantastic fan, which runs on DC. Your connected to the TV so no problem with DC power being available. I would have a vent cover installed to keep the wind off the vent cover.

We set the thermostats on our fantastic fans and let them run while we go down the highway. We do have the max air type covers on the to keep the wind from ripping them off. On 100*+ days, the inside of the coach does not get as hot. When we start our set up, the A/C gets turned on where ever it was set at when we left our last site. As it cools down, the cold air settles low while the fans continue to pull the hot air out as it will rise. Most the time, by the time we are ready to get things in order inside, one or both of the fantastic fans have shut down. We have the fans set at 80* and 85*.
