Mor-Ride vs Trail air vs 5th Airborne for 4100 King

I am very close to signing a contarct for a 4100K. I have researched about everthing I can find and have determined that i need some type of dampening. My dealer seems responsive to the idea. I could close the deal as early as tomorrow or it may be early next week. Any suggestions?

Yes. My apologies for not being clear. I am referring to replacing the factory installed pinbox. My choice, at the moment is a B&W companion hitch for the truck and an improved pin box for the 4100.

I own a 3950 and am a BIG Reese fan so I put on a 5th airborne. Either way or either one will save the chucking that you will feel. I took my Cyclone for a ride without a 5th airborne and that immediately convinced me to buy one! My fiberglass cover/ wind deflector fit over the Reese to keep the factory look

Same here. Put on the fifth airborne. Love the hitch and the way everything is protected.

I would try it without first. You can most likely buy an air-ride or Mor-Ryde pin box online for WAY less than a dealer wants for one. It's easy to change. Set it on the tailgate on a few blocks to get it close to the height you want. Slide it around to line it up and raise or lower the trailer with the landing gear to get it to the right height. I can do it by myself in about 1/2 hour using an impact wrench...Don

Have to agree with Don, takes longer to properly torque the bolts than to change the pin box. Having used both the 5th Airborne is best in my opinion. The cover does fit well and the ride is improved as well as being easier on the TV.

I haven't use any other brand than the Trail Air. I'm very satisfied with it. One thing I did learn recently with my Trail Air is the ride and tow is a lot smoother with a little less air in the bladder than recommended.

I have found that to be true with all the air pins we have tried. I fill it just to the point it don't bottom out so to speak.

Another vote for Trailaire. My rig rides like a Cadillac. No bumping, chucking or rattling.

True the plastic pinbox cover doesn't fit. It's not an issue for me.
Many folks I have spoken with say the plastic pinbox covers don't last all that long anyway, with extended use in sun and wind. :eek:JMHO. Trace

(Ouch, I hope that wasn't me just shooting myself in the foot.) :)

I had the Trailair installed by the dealer and have had no problems and trailer travels very well behind my truck. I can't say which is better because this is my first 5th wheel.

Which 5th Airborne is the correct replacement. I can't find the specs on the factory pin. I thought I read somewhere on here that it is a Lippert.

Try contacting HL with your VIN. They should be able to tell you exactly which pin they put on it. But, the common one is the Lippert 1621HD, which takes the 5AB-E1621-610.
