Locks only keep honest people honest, its hard to put a good locking system on a cheap door.

I haven't seen any in the RV marketplace, but I have changed plenty on other items. A secure hasp and good padlock are your best bet no matter what you do it can be defeated and sometimes draw undue attention.

It would be nice if the outside storage key didn't open every trailer in the campground and vice a verse.

If you placed another lock that would fit the door, anyone can open the door with a good screwdriver..

Over the last 6 years of fulltiming I have never had anything stolen from in or around my trailer. I have had my trailer damaged by someone and they just left left..

Agreed. When we were finishing the PDI on our trailer, we noticed we only had one baggage door key. The technician looked at the numbers on it and said he'd go get another. When he came back, he mentioned that there are essentially only two key cuts for those locks. He has two boxes full of keys and just had to know which box to grab another from.

Also, the other night I was trying to open my front compartment door and didn't realize I was trying the wrong key (it was dark and I was going by feel on my keyring). I was cursing my "stubborn lock" and still managed to get the lock to unlock with whatever key I was using. That was comforting to find out.

Do a Google search on "CH 751 lock" to learn more about how universal this tumbler set is to the RV industry, and some different vendors who sell replacement upgrades (combination locks, round key locks). Most RV owners aren't too worried about it. With a large screwdriver you can defeat any of these simple paddle arm locks. You would have to come up with some sort of deadbolt to raise the security level by an order of magnitude.

Edit: I found this selection of many types of camlocks on the McMaster-Carr website. They sell retail, accept credit cards, and have no minimum (that I am aware of): http://www.mcmaster.com/#cam-locks/=p2rgc7

I have replaced my baggage door locks with Global Link locks from RV Locks and More. I have them keyed to the same as my entry doors. Much nicer to have one key rather than three!

Thank you for the link - it's what we were looking for.

Found this as well: http://www.andersonlock.com/medeco-high-security-cam-locks-products-607.php But just heard this is too short :).

JohnDar, I like the looks of that lock. I keep my storage doors lock so things don't fall out.

I do like the idea of one key for the door and storage locks.

We use these

http://www.combi-cam.com

But I don't think they would work on the slam latch style doors.

We have them on all three locks on the basement doors and both of the battery compartment doors, after we had the basement broken into at our storage facility.

It may actually take longer to get in, since you have to do the combination for all of them each time, but they seem much more secure, and we don't have to worry about having keys.
