New BH - Locks need some lubrication

Just wanting to get some recommendations on what products people are using to lube the exterior locks? The basement doors and storage compartment are VERY difficult to operate right now. As the trailer is brand new, I want to start using the correct lube...so I figured why not ask the experts here.

Thanks for the help...

I spray a little silicone inside the keyhole about twice a year.

I have also used silicone lubricant in my locks 2 - 3 times per year. I have used WD 40 Dry Lube which is a silicone based lubricant for the past several years and have had no issues whatsoever.

On my new Big Country I had the same problem with all the outside locks. A puff of graphite in the locks and working the keys in and out a few times solved the problem. Now all my keys work smooth.

Can you provide the exact brand so I can pick it up on Amazon?

I use graphite. Though with our Bighorn, we replaced the factory lock with the remote control lock from rvlock.com. We love it. We don't use the key at all.

When we did the PDI on our trailer we had the same problem with the locks. The mechanic used WD-40 which cured the problem.

Teflon silicone lube. Only MHO but graphite is black and hard to get off if you get it on anything, including your key and then your clothes and unless they have changed the formula for WD 40 since I used it last, it dries to a gummy film after time on whatever you use it on. I stopped using it on some gun parts because of that fact.

After I stopped using WS40 on anything I found a post by someone who suggested spraying a coat of WD40 on a small area on your work table and allowing it to dry. After a week he found that it turned gummy and began collecting dust and dirt. Not what you want in a lock. Or a gun.
