I am new to this site also and there is no section for the new destination series of rv's. When will site be updated to include all of the heartland products?

We have a 2014 Fairfield 401FK. We're looking for others who may have one or a similar one. We're been having a lot of issues with it and want to see if this is normal. Our water heater caught fire twice- they finally completely replaced the whole unit. The fantastic fan broke within 3 months, the back door lock didn't work from the beginning, none of our tip out lights worked, underbelly fell off when it was delivered, shock under our bed was broke, fiberglass has a huge hole in it, screws completely cut into the tip out exterior, trim falling off already and the latest....when we had it winterized they found a slice in our waterline to our refrigerator. We had no idea! It leaked all year! Our whole kitchen flooring is destroyed with cabinet damage and who knows what else. The dealer is being very difficult about everything.

We spoke to Heartland about it and they said the dealer has to attempt to fix it before they get involved with a replacement. I think it's crazy. They're not replacing everything. I have a bad feeling that in the summer we're going to get mold. No one at this point will listen to us.

Has anyone else had these sort of issues with their Fairfield? If so, what was done? You would think when an RV costs over $50,000 it would be built a little better. Thought we bought our dream RV. Very disappointed with the whole experience. I just want to enjoy it and move on.
thanks!

Hi Mwakefield,

Sorry you'd had these issues. They sound pretty unusual. And actually, to me, sounds like many may have been caused in transport, either to the dealer or to your site. Did you walk through and around the trailer at the dealership?

We agree that these issues should have been caught not only by the dealer, but also Heartland. The tip outs were apparently wired backwards from what the dealer repair person said. When it was purchased the dealer said that they do a 96 point inspection of every unit before it's delivered and after. They still stand by that. There is no way they did. My husband was there the day it was delivered in the pouring rain and they didn't do much of anything. That was on them. Our good experience stopped the second we signed the paperwork.

I just wasn't sure if anyone else has had any of these issues with a new unit. How do all these issues get past two company inspections? Heartland takes no blame in the build of it. Even though the wiring, slice in the waterline, the shock and possibly the damage to the fiberglass were factory issues. I do agree some of the damage is from transport. The water heater was a faulty unit. That could have been much worse. Thank goodness I was paying attention. It was our first experience purchasing a new RV, so I guess we trusted that they would do what the contract stated.

Before it's delivered again we will be driving to the dealer to look it over and make sure all issues have been resolved. It's 2 hours away, so it's not like it's a quick trip. I think we bought a lemon....Hopefully when we get it back we won't have any issues. I'm really concerned with the fact that they're pulling the vinyl floor back to replace the subfloor in the kitchen, but not replacing the vinyl. If they don't replace everything that's damaged mold will develop once the weather changes. Moisture and heat don't mix well....

thanks.

I own a Fairfield 405FL and would also like to see a section dedicated to this model. Mine was delivered without an A/C control board. Overall pretty happy with it so far.
