Can someone tell me if I'm using the RV Tow check 2.1 calculator correctly?
Under certification ratings I put the 5th wheel info For GCWR I put in 13,800LBS which is the spec dry weight of the camper. Under GVWR someone above estimated 15-16K LBS, I went with 15,500.
Tow vehicle weight, GVW - the 2017 F350 SRW 4X4 comes in at 10,000 per Ford website.
Cargo= 200lbs
Passenger- 500Lbs

I'm getting a max 5th wheel towing of 18,200LBS

I'm just trying to understand the numbers and see if I'm low on the "Certification Ratings" numbers at the top?

GCWR for the truck is list at 28700, Base curb weight of CC SB 4x4 SRW is listed at 7492. Base curb weight may reflect a stripper model. I believe your are doing something really wrong. GVWR is 11,500. Max towed trailer weight is listed at 20,600. RGAWR is 7230. With 7492 curb weight, Hitch clicked, Cargo 200 and Passengers 500 and using the 20 percent pin weight setting I get 15,290 for fifth wheel towing. I think the truck is going to be 400 or 500 pounds heavier. So when I put 7892 for truck I get 13,290 for a trailer.

Dry pin weight percentage is 19.78 so 20 percent in the calulator is a good base. So as I said early, if you can keep load in the trailer at the low 1700 to 2200(15.5-16K GVWR) CCC, you may sweeze buy. HOWEVER when you find the actual curb weight of the truck you want to buy, I think you will be overweight. GVWR for sure and maybe the 7230 RGAWR, which is tire based an a number you do not want to exceed. I would like to see how Ford can actually tow a 20,600 pound 5th wheel. Our truck has a 11,700 GVWR and is rated to tow 17,050 pounds. At 16K for our truck I am slightly over the Trucks GVWR and approaching the 7K RGAWR. That is with two of us in the truck. Chris

I want to thank you all again for taking the time to educate me about our truck choice. We've decided a SRW is just not wise to even consider. To my surprise my wife is considering a dually. I would think any of the big 3 dually's (Ford, Chevy and Dodge) could pull the GW3800RLB. Anything special we should consider when looking at the 4x4 dually's?
Thanks again,
