no anode rod in my 2015 big country

was at the dealer today to pick up my new 2015 big country 3450t. we did the pdi and I was looking at the water heater and there was no anode rod for the water heater just a plastic cover where the rod should be. i don't think it has the suburban water heater. should it have a anode rod or not?

If I remember right the Atwood water heater does not have an anode. Maybe someone else can confirm that.

Installing an anode rod in an Atwood water heater actually voids the tank warranty as it will cause pitting. Suburbans require the anode.

On our previous rig, had the Atwood WH. The tank itself is made of glass.
Now for an easy question??? what does the WH owners manual say about the subject???

Here's a link to several Atwood manuals and guides posted on the forum. But since Atwood doesn't use anode rods, there wouldn't be any reason to talk about them in the manual.

The OP said he was not sure if it had a suburban wh or not. That's why I suggested he/she look at the owners manual. Our 2011 Big Country did come with a suburban, changed the wh rod more than once due to the crappy water in Arizona.

Just take a pic of the model and s/n placard. Then Google the manual and/or specs.

Here is the one on my Cy 4100. If this is the same model as yours I can send you the manual.

It always amazes me how dealers do such poor walkthroughs. Guess that is mostly because they have such poor product knowledge. Maybe they need to hire Certified Walk-through Specialists to do the job.

On my PDI, the kid (had to be 19) was more interested in selling me vent covers and slide toppers than teaching me a friggin thing.

I am a certified w/t specialist. The dealers I have talked to do not want to spend the extra money to hire someone for that. They would prefer to use either a repair tech or a sales person. It is funny they would want to take a repair tech off the line to do a w/t but guess they figure it is more cost effective. The biggest thing I see is the consumer needs to be aware of what to ask and what to check. A reputable dealer will do a great w/t.
