Northern Wisconsin campgrounds or State Park ideas?

Hi! We are looking for a nice campground to spend 4-5 days at in Northern Wisconsin to celebrate our 35th anniversary during the 1st week of June 2016. Ideas? Go and thank you!!!

We have stayed a few times at Ogston's RV Park in Saginaw MN just a few miles South of Duluth MN, not far from Superior WI. Nice campground with fish ponds etc on site and close to Duluth/Superior facilities.

One of our favorite places is in Ashland, WI. It's a city park right on the shore of Lake Superior, Chemquamegon Bay. Water and Electric.
Get there mid week and chances are you will be able to get a spot right on the lake.
How far north do you want to go?

Peace
Dave

We are looking for an area north of Green Bay, WI and maybe as far north as the Michigan UP. We are hoping to only drive about 5-6 hrs MAX north of the Chicago area. We will be leaving on a Thursday and hope to stay until the next Tuesday (1st week of June).

I'm guessing that there is no shortage of campgrounds in the area you are looking at.

We are originally from southern Michigan and never had a problem finding a spot in the UP or northern Wisconsin on the fly.

Not sure how far North you want to go, but volunteered at the Apostle Island National Lakeshore last summer, north of Bayfield. If you have time, it is quite a place and has a small town run campground right on the lake.
