I'm not here to bash Heartland but after three years of problems we decided it was time to sell and move on.
In April of 2011 we purchased a North Trail 32BUDS. Within the first couple of weeks we started having problems. The worst of the problems was the main slide quit working. The dealer had to install a new complete slide mechanism, installed improperly at the factor. That took almost a month. There were also plumbing leaks, the canopy shorted out, leak in the outside shower, TV rotating antenna would not rotate, the Kitchen sink started rusting out within 6 months and the master bed mattress went flat, we are not big people. Yes Heartland was good to work with and everything was fixed but we were without our trailer for a few months altogether.
Then in May of 2013 while descending a mountain pass our trailer brakes gave out. It turned out the brake wires overheated and totally burned the wires off. After tracing the wires we found the back axle brakes had never been hocked up which put all of the load on the front trailer brakes. I checked with Heartland but they would not help because it was out of the warranty period. The last straw we the heater quite last September.
We have owned three trailers and three fifth wheels in our many years of RVing. The Heartland by far had more problems than any we have owned. In reading the forums since we bought the North Trail, I continue to see what seems like a problem with quality control. Heartland is not a bad product but the lack of quality control has an adverse affect on the customer right off.
We had a lot of great trips and experiences with our North Trail, but just couldn't trust it anymore.
Just a note, in the paper work for our new trailer, was lists of all the system tested including pressure tests of all of the plumbing before it left the factory. As of yet after three months with our new unit not one problem.
