plumbing cap under kitchen and bath sinks

Sorry I don't know the name of this part, I can only explain it and hope for some help. Under both kitchen and bath sinks there is black drain pipe, at the very end of this pipe is a cap of some sort ?? I was told these caps need to be cleaned or replaced periodically, can cause a smell in the coach. Can someone tell me what this part is called ?? and how do you clean it ??

It is an air admittance valve. Heartland uses a cheap one like an Oatey which you can pick up for 5 to 6 bucks. Go for the name brand Studor. Ir will cost you about $25 but you won't have to replace it again.

Lowes and Home Depot may not have the better ones. I would not get the cheap ones.
