Protects mat and B&W Sliding Hitch

I have a Protecta rubber mat in my 2015 SD and I installed a B&W Goose Neck hitch and I'm wondering if and one has cut the 4" round hole in their rubber mat and placed the hitch on the top of the mat instead of removing the mat when the hitch is installed. This mat is very dense and heavy and I'm hoping that I can get a little feedback on this.

Thanks,
Frank

I think the mat would keep the holes for the pin that holds the hitch in place from lining up thus not allowing the pin to snap into proper position.
