Cowboy corndogs:
Instant cornbread mix (just add water and egg type)
water
egg
hotdogs about 1 per pie iron
cooking spray, butter or shortening
Pie iron
Prepare cornbread mix according to package directions
Slice hotdogs.
grease pie iron with cooking spray
place hotdog slices in lower half of pie iron
add enough cornbread mixture to fill remaining lower half of pie iron
close and seal pie iron
cook over fire until golden brown use cornbread package times for estimated cooking time
serve as you would a corn dog. Ketchup or mustard are great on them.

Don't think so...don't they eat dogs in Mexico? From what I understand you folks down in Texas like possum on the half shell!

Nope,, thats possum stew and dillo on the half shell. I have had the stew and it can be good. Wieners up North.. Good ole sausage links down here... deer, wild hog,,, what ever. Got about 6 or 7 feet of wild sausage in the freezer now. Fried rattlesnake is really good also.

My kids love cowboy corndogs. They taste every bit as good as the deep fried ones without all the fat.
I think the pie irons help with the taste due to all the browned sides.
You can vary the recipe by how much hotdog you place in a pie iron or add things like peppers into the batter.
