I have noticed that the sailun s637 tire in size 235 85 r16 comes in two models.
One is s637 regional all position, the other is 637T HD st trailer. What is the difference and which one do I want for my big country 3070re.
Many thanks

Here are the differences that I found.

S637 Regional:
Features & Benefits:

  • Multi-sipes improve traction in wet conditions and dissipate heat for prolonged tread life.
  • Shallow tread designed to reduced rolling resistance for improved fuel economy.
  • Unique tread wall grooves help reduce irregular wear and improve traction.

S637T ST:
Features & Benefits:

  • All steel construction for maximum strength and load capacity.
  • Multi-sipes improve traction in wet conditions and dissipate heat for prolonged tread life.
  • Five rib design for improved stability.
  • Solid shoulder to resist irregular wear and improve fuel efficiency.

Although the AP tire in your size is listed as all steel I would go with the ST.

Peace
Dave

I heard that the LT tire was discontinued and only the ST was in production, but that was 8 months ago.

According to Sailun's site, the S637 regional tire is only available in 17.5" wheel sizes or larger: [LINK]

The S636T ST tire is only available in 16" wheel sizes: [LINK]

Many thanks

The S637 was previously available in 16", before introduction of the S637T, so there may still be inventory under the older part number.

According to the vendor selling Sailun tires at the 2015 National Rally, Sailun changed the labeling to ST from LT to get a better import tax rate. He said the ST tire is the same tire as the LT. The speed rating on the ST tire dropped to 65mph because of the ST rating.

According to Simple Tires listing on the S637 ST235/85R16G it has a service description of 129L. which is load index(129)/speed rating(L). L speed rating is up to 75 MPH. The 129 is the load index and for 129 it is 4079 pounds.

So if anything happen to the S637 as a result of the LT to St change, its weight rating has gone up. So I will also be verifying what max inflation is listed at.

I will be at the trailer today and check if the tires on our new 2017 actual have the Service Description molded into the sidewall. Will also check the max inflation/weight molded into all tires.

I would also note the many manufactures are now throwing out the max 65 MPH speed restriction of ST tires, with Carlisle leading the way.

You should always look at the published specs in the manufacturer website or brochure.

5541960*ST 235/80R16*129/125 L14106.5030.89.314.74,0803,640110
5540992*ST 235/85R16 *129/125 L14106.5031.79.314.74,0803,640110

The 129/125 is single/dual usage load rating.

BTW, Simple Tire I believe is the North America importer for Sailun.

"According to the vendor selling Sailun tires " Never believe a salesman!

Remember, if you must change wheels to go to a ST235/85R16 G, Look at the 17.5 conversion. The 215/75R17.5 H Sailun S637 I sell is only abt. $200 more than the load rage G Sailun. The OD is the same as the ST235/80R16.
