Rear AC Replaced Today

The rear AC was replaced today on the 2014 BC. Dometic provided great customer service - agreed to having a mobile tech perform the analysis and replacement - picked up service call.

They replaced the Brisk Air AC full profile with the Brisk Air II - weighs less, is more efficient, stronger fan, and blows colder. http://www.dometic.com/enus/Americas/USA/RV-Products/climate/ac-display-page/?productdataid=107566. This AC unit could freeze you out.... :)

Only problem is that profile and shroud are different than the front AC. AC in the front is a full profile. They sent with white shroud but are sending the black shroud. We've had problems with front AC as well - vibrates - screw was missing and fan was broken and we fixed but it still vibrates.

I called Heartland customer service and they indicated that Dometic is no longer making the Brisk Air AC's.

Did you mention your front A/C problems to the tech? Too bad he couldn't look into it while he was there.

No we should have done that. (We were just so concerned about the rear - at least the front cools.) He's going to return to replace the shroud for the rear. Will have him look at front then. Thanks.

Mobile tech looked at front AC today. His comment was "gee you didn't even have to put 25 cents in the bed." You can even feel the vibration when standing on the floor or when placing your hand on the dresser. He will be contacting Dometic regarding such next. (He couldn't replace the shroud for the new rear as Dometic sent another white one :) - we'll get there - they are sending a black one out today.)

Turns out that both AC units had major issues.

When my Dometic a/c had a bad vibration Dometic sent our dealer new rubber grommets for the compressor. Solved the problem.

The new Dometics have rubber grommets now (and we have them). Thanks for the info. I assume that is why Dometic has not suggested such.

Dometic is now going to have the tech replace the fan (we already did this once) and the squirrel cage fan. I'm thinkin' we got a couple of defective AC units - these must have been one of the last lots built of the Dometic Brisk Air model for which Dometic no longer builds. Just our luck.

What is aggravating is not only having to deal with needing the service on the ACs (and having to make MANY Dometic calls) when the coach is basically brand new but that it affected our outing as we had no AC and it was in the 90's. Had to go for rides to cool off in the truck. Thank goodness we found a very good mobile tech.

Tech replaced motor today and it did not correct the vibration. Dometic is sending a new front AC. Turns out both ACs were defective.

Cured bad vibration on my AC buy removing large mud daubber ball in center of the fan. Had to get mirror to put in front of fan to see. Removed fan. Cleaned and reinstalled. Vibration gone.

Thx but they did inspect the fan especially since it had already been replaced once - wanted to see if it had cracked again. This vibrated terribly from the start when we did our first inspection when it arrived from the factory. Made the whole bedroom shake. Thought is that there is something wrong with the compressor.

Front AC replaced last evening. Dometic was apologetic and paid the service call for the mobile tech this time as well (turns our both ACs were defective). Vibration in front AC is now gone.

These new Brisk II ACs work great - quieter and much smaller and appear to be much cooler. We lost 50# with the replacement of the two ACs - 28 off rear AC and 22 off front AC. The front AC fan is much more powerful went from 2.0 to 2.7 (both 15k and 13.5k ACs have the same fan motors at 2.7 now).
