Removing Shower Door

We are replacing the 3 piece glass shower door on our Fifth Wheel with a shower curtain. I just removed all the track pieces and would like some opinions about what to do with the screw holes.

Do the screws that hold the track pieces onto the side and bottom of the shower support the overall structure or were they solely just for the track? There was also one additional screw on each wall behind the tracks. Are these ok to remove all well or should they stay? I can't tell what's holding the shower in place and would rather it not start shifting around!

Ideally, I would like to remove those two screws that were hidden but are now visible, and just fill all the holes with a polyurethane sealant.

Thanks!

What we did, (and we did ours this week) was screw the screws back into the holes and silicon them to be sure they were watertight. If we find a patch kit for the shower, we will take out the screws but for now it works.

The hardest part will be getting rid of all the leftover adhesive, I scraped many times, using a pastry spreader that had a flat end not a rounded one. Similar to a putty knife but flexible and much easier to control for me. Be careful and don’t dig into it. My final step today was use paint thinner, the blade, and a nylon scrubby to get it off. I managed about 98% of it.

I despised that shower door. Much happier with a shower curtain and if IT gets moldy, I can toss it in the washer with a bit of bleach.

Thanks for sharing!

Interestingly, ours did not have any adhesive behind the tracks. If it was supposed to be there, I guess it's not a surprise since they didn't even caulk the left side of the shower track.

For anyone else interested in this, it seems like the screws should stay in there. I put the screws back in for our travel day just in case, but I wanted to cover them in sealant to make sure no water seeped through. As I took the screws back out, the wall of the shower would pull away from the RV wall a bit.

Yes, the doors are attached to a track inside that top metal piece. Just be careful when removing the doors as they are much heavier than they look! Once you have removed the screws holding in the metal track, you can just lift straight up on the metal piece, and doors will come along for the ride. I would suggest having someone on each end of the track if possible.

BTW, yesterday I did was my liner and curtain cause the bottom was getting a touch moldy. Super easy. The washer did all the work. I don’t use the dryer, just hang up to dry. I toss a whitish towel in there a scrubby, add bleach.
