Replace awning switch

I have a new Dometic awning switch to go in but there are six spades on the old one compared to four on the new one any ideas on this situation about different
colour-coded wires?

This is only a guess but the original switch was probably a standard double pull/double through (DPDT) switch. Though you picture is blurry, the position and color of the wires makes me think it is. A DPDT switch would be wired in such a way as to cause a polarity reversal to the center terminals, depending on which side of the switch was depresses. So pressing "OUT" would send plus and minus to the wires that go to the awning motor to extend it and pressing "IN" would reverse the polarity and cause the awning motor to retract.

The new switch may take care of the polarity reversal internally. You can verify this with a simple DC volt meter. Connect the the terminals indicated as input to a 12 Volt supply. Then connect a meter to the output leads and see if the polarity reverses when depressing the switch one way or another.

Installing the new style switch will involve some minor rewiring at the switch.
