Road Warrior - front electric land gear stopped working

The front landing gear stopped working. Is there a reset button somewhere? A fuse that I can check? Or how can I tell if I burned out the motor?
I own a 2010 Road Warrior 365.
Thanks

Re: ATF: Road Warrior - front electric land gear stopped working

Hi roadwarrior365,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum and to the family. We have a great bunch of folks here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

You probably did not hurt the motor for the jacks, but either the fuse saved you or the circuit breaker did. Look behind the battery you should see some small circuit breakers covered with red safety covers. Feel along these and you might find a small button on the side of the one for the jacks and push to reset. Or if you don't find one of the breakers, you need to check the wiring from the switch to the motor for an inline fuse.
Don't know which you might have.
This is what your looking for and this is a good 12v guide.
Maybe someone with a RW 365 will jump in soon with better information.

I'm not familiar with your specific model, but do you have hydraulic front landing gear? Or electric? On my rig, if I'm not connected to shore power and my battery is below about 60%, the hydraulic pump will slow and then quit. A couple of quick toggles of the switch will cause my breaker to flip. It resets after a few minutes - but I either need shore power or my truck connected at this point or I'm dead in the water!

If it's the same as my Big Country, it will have a fuse. Mine is located in an online fuse holder located next to the battery. It is a heavier pink wire. There is no circuit breaker just a fuse. If you bottom the jacks out on the way out the fuse will blow when you hit the stops welded on the sides of the front legs. 30 amp blade type fuse either the std. size or a mini will work...Don

make sure you didn't inadvertily pull one of the wires loose from the limit switches on the actuators. it won't move if one of these wires is disconnected. I know, believe me.

It as Don pointed out a 30 AMP Automotive Fuse and it will be behind the Battery down low connected to the Bus Bar on the Circuit Breakers. I just replaced mine with a 30A Circuit Breaker when mine Blew.
TO verify that you have power to the motor - you can remove the switch and using a multi meter check for 12V DC on the upper two or lower two blades. the center blades to to the motor. If you do not have power to the switch - then check the Fuse, if you have power to the switch then chances are your motor is toast.

Keep In Mind that the Fuse Blew for a reason. Either you over extended/retracted the legs or the Gears in one of the Legs are Worn out and binding. It is also possible that the Motor or gearbox is wearing and binding. I have just finished the rebuild of my lead leg ( the one with the motor attached. Do you have a Generator installed? this makes access to the Landing Gear a bit more challenging.

I am working on the assumption that your rig is stock with the Single Electric Motor and cross over bar that rotates activating the second leg ...

Thanks all for your suggestions. I found the in-line fuse and it was blown. The previous owner had a 40 amp fuse in it. I noticed the wire itself said "30AMP".
I have now replaced the fuse 5 times and it keeps blowing. My thought is that the motor is not strong enough to lift the front end of my unit. I may have to call my local camper dealer to get their suggestion and maybe have them replace the single motor with 2 motors.

A lot of folks have replaced the 30 with a 40amp fuse. Also make sure your battery is charged.
