Rotten Bedroom Slide Floor Repair

Finally tackled this two weekends ago. Not too bad, used pressure treated plywood and wrapped with darco. Not entirely sure how all of the water got in, but for starters the rear most roller broke the top screws off and the darco had a hole scraped in it. Even though it doesn't explain how the upper layer got wet unless its the condensation from being wrapped in the darco in the first place. Total cost about 50 bucks. Hardest parts was factory used 3/8 luan and I had to bevel the outer edge of the 1/2 inch plywood I used to allow the aluminum face extrusion trim to go back on and match up. About 10 hours start to finish.

Nice job. Water can sneak down and in so easy. Just takes a very little hairline opening in the seal over a short time. I noticed that your slide topper brackets are on each end. Did you check the water seal on the fasteners? Water will seek the lowest point and soak in there.

Looks like quit a project. Good job tearing into it. Did you get after pics ?

I did get a few pics but they are not real exciting. I did put rigid foam insulation in the aluminum floor joist cavities as there was zero! I was really surprised at the mass and beef of the slide out mechanism. Really well built.
