Shower door falls off

I’ve experienced twice when getting out of the shower, the door falls out of the hinges and hits the wall on the opposite side of the bathroom. This has caused damage to the wall . We bought the trailer used, but after examining the damage, I see an identical mark that appears to have be “covered” with women’s liquid makeup by the previous owner. I’m just wondering what I can do to keep this from happening, besides the obvious, don't let the door fall off. My husband has never had this happen. Also, what can I do to "repair" the wall. We have brown/white marbled finish on our walls and some of the wall paper is ripped exposing the wood paneling.

Hello Beeman-26. Welcome to the forum. There is a lot of information here. I am sure someone that owns a North Trail may have an idea for you.
Soooo, you say it has never happened to your husband but only you. Maybe you have been working out a little too much lately. :D
I do not own a NT, but I think if you look the door over real good and see how it attaches you might be able to find a solution.
For the repair I guess that I would look into repairing the hole some how with maybe a little wood filler and then try using a crayon or wax pencil to match the color of the wall. Kinda like the current repair.
I would help if you posted a couple of pics.
Good luck with it.

Peace
Dave

beeman-26,

Please grab your VIN and call 877-262-8032. That's Heartland Customer Service. Though you have no warranty from Heartland, the service team is always available to you for calls and maybe they can assist you at times. See what they think about this shower door. Maybe there were some known issues. If not, obtain the manufacturer name and phone number and call them directly. It's likely SEA (Shower Enclosures of America). Perhaps dealing directly with the manufacturer of the item will yield some satisfaction.

On the gouge in the decor of the wall board, ask customer service to send you 10 feet of seam tape that matches your decor board. Use this tape to cover the mark. Use either a small piece as a sort of Band Aid or use the entire strip to go from ceiling to floor, just as is used in the RV for seams between wall board sections.

And as Cookie suggests, lay off the dumbells - you're just too dang strong for this RV :)

Best of luck and welcome to the Heartland family.

Well I have taken your advice and called the Customer Service Dept. What a helpful group of people. Since we are the second owners, nothing would be covered under warranty, so their suggestion would be to take the trailer to a service dealer. That is not feasible at this time since we bought the trailer in Colorado. But the gal in parts told me to take a picture of the shower and she would look into it. I think at this time, I'd rather fix the door first and worry about the wall second. The seam tape that Jim suggested was $.226 per foot, so I'm going to think about that after we get the door hung correctly. I can always hang a towel holder/ring over the small hole. I'll post pictures of each next week after I email heartland.
