Slideout seal assist tabs

Does anyone know something about those seal assist tabs that is supposed to help the wiper gasket flip out when the slide extends out? It appears to me that they might also force the seal to flip inward when the slide is retracted. Mine are missing across the top of the slide. Do I need to replace them?

Hi Danny1955,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum. We have a great bunch of people here with lots of information and all willing to share their knowledge when needed.

The seal assist tabs your asking about do not come from the factory and very few need them. It is just a bead of silicone or whatever that is applied across the top of slide roof. It helps flip the gasket out when extending the slide. Some of the seals are a little to stiff or slick or the way the slide is adjusted and the seal will not flip outward. The seal is not used for water protection when slide is retracted because the slide seals on the outside edge.

Enjoy the forum.
