Slides

Do the rollers or plastic parts under the slides ever require any lubricant such as silicone spray? I hear a little squealing occasionally when I bring in the slides. I have also noticed the bedroom slide plastic rollers seem to just drag over the bottom of the slide. The long slide where the eating area is does not appear to have any rollers just a long piece of plastic Thanks for your info.

As far as I have seen those rollers dont require any lube. They seem to be a self lubricating type of plastic/ nylon. I have heard where some people have had those break due to load, and tear into the floors of the slides. So keep any eye on them.

Do those small rollers turn?-there are two of them on the bedroom slide-some larger ones where the kitchen slide is and they look like they turn(where the linoleum is).

I think they are suppose to roll but many of mine do not. My dealer replaced one that was squeaking very bad but the new one still does not roll. They are making a grove in the bottom of the slide. My concern, and a concern of my dealer, is that the rollers may develop a flat spot and/or wear through the bottom of the slide. My dealer has contacted Heartland with his concerns so Heartland is aware of the problem.

They're supposed to turn. If they don't, you'll probably see a lot of damage where they drag. On the bedroom slide floor, you may see some grooving, the width of the roller, due to the weight of the slide riding on the roller. The kitchen slide rollers are attached to the slide and roll on the floor.

I bought my unit used. I am sure the bottom of the slide has been waxed since it is very slick-the unit was extremely well kept by the prior owner. I don't think mine are turning since I can see some wear.

I have a fix for any of you that have slide rollers that are stuck-mine were. Under the master bedroom slide take some sand paper, I used emery cloth and rough sand the area where the rollers slide over-sand side to side. Then rough sand the rollers side to side. You need to hold the seal back to get to them. My DW was very helpful. Then take the sand paper and fold it and place it between the roller and the top of the slide then move the slide in a little and the roller will break loose. Move the slide a little and keep sanding the rollers side to side. Once it is loose and both surfaces have been sanded they will work just fine. I also sanded the ones in the kitchen slide(small plastic ones and they now work also). Just needed a little friction to get them to work. Never wax the under side of the master bedroom slide-where the rollers run-I think that is what caused the problem in the first place. They are all working like new.

Good tip. Some areas just don't need to shine like a monkey's bottom! A wipe with a damp rag should be all it needs, if it's dirty.
