Southco Wireless Keypad Success

Our 2012 Bighorn was built in June 2011 and has the has the Southco wireless keypad entry system. We bought it new in October 2012. When we arrived in Florida last December, we attempted to use the system for the first time since April 2013 and determined that we had forgotten the code. I downloaded the instructions from this forum's Manuals page, contacted Southco, gave them the number from the keypad and received instructions on how to reset the code to the factory default. The chap at Southco was very helpful. Followed his instructions and the lock worked. Then we reset the code to our own. We found that it's best to do this at dusk, as the keypad lights don't show up well in bright light, and it's helpful to have someone standing next to the operator to read the instructions.

When we took delivery from Morry's Trailer Sales, in Walkerton, Ontario, one of the techs mentioned that some customers had been having trouble with malfunctioning keypads. He suggested putting an outdoor electric outlet cover over the keypad. This was done and I attribute the continuing proper functioning of the keypad to this protection. Once again a culture of customer care at this dealership leads to a happy customer.
