Star Gazing around Houston

We are looking to head out on Christmas Break and find a nice place to see the stars. Looking for any good ideas of places that will be dark enough. We are so lit up in the city, someone suggested Pedernales Falls.

Come visit us at Inks Lake State Park near Burnet in the hill country! We'll be there after the rally in Boerne until the 1st of the year.

Go to Ft Davis State Park in West Texas. The McDonald Observatory is close to it and it is touted as the darkest, clearest skys in Texas. Ft Davis is a great state park although it is 'out in the middle of nowhere' and off the beaten path. Once you visit there you will want to go back too. No cell service in the park but you do have it on "top of the hill".

I am from a little place 13 miles north of El Campo. It was dark enough to see the stars out there. I could never imagine a place you could not see the stars until I moved to Houston. But El Campo is about 1 1/2 hrs south west of Houston on Hwy 59
