Suburban sw12de door and frame replacement questions

So the water heater door blew off, I need to replace the door and frame.
My questions are about the frame installation.
I have seen a few videos and some put butyl tape on the frame where it goes against the outside of the body.
And some don't.
If you did use butyl tape what size was it?

If you look at the installation's instructions, it does show using butyl tape.

Got to the top of the page under "TOOLS", go to "PLUMBING". go to "WATER HEATER". There are several installation instructions in this file.
