My family and I are going on about a 20 day road trip from home up to Boston and back. Our stops are; Ellijay, GA, Washington DC, Boston, Hershey PA, Gatlingburg TN, and another stop or 2 before coming home. If you have any must see or dos in these areas please let me know. And any routes to avoid (my rv is 13' 3") I will have 2 spares, are there any other extras I might need or want to make life on the road a lil easier?
Thanks
If you've got the time, Ive's COE park in N central Penn. minutes from NY state line is a great park with huge sites and full hookups. From there you're only 30 minutes from the Watkins Glen and the finger lakes of NY. Maybe 2 hours from Niagara Falls.
Good luck with your dually in Boston. Great place to site see and good tour bus to destinations that run every 30 minutes. You'll never park the dually in town. Have a drink at the Cheers pub. We went on up to Bangor, Maine and stayed so we could go to Bar Harbor. Take the bus up to the highest point in Acadia park to see the Cranbury Islands. Absolutely beautiful.
If you like Civil War sites, go to Gettysburg. If you do, the 360 degree Diorama and painting at the visitors center is amazing. The driving tour puts you back in time and to stand on Little Big Top and look at what the soldiers saw is breathtaking along with the open fields of Pickets charge.
One thing I noticed is that the roads all run N and S and you'd better be ready for more toll roads than you've ever see. We spent a couple of months up that way and really enjoyed it.
Gatlinburg is nice but I would drive there and stay elsewhere and take the buss into town form the departure station outside of town.
I could go on and on but We'll see yo at a rally soon and Debbie could tell you a lot more.
See you in Kinder.
