Texas to New Mexico to Colorado

Packed up the ski gear and left Bullard in East Texas on Saturday morning on our way to Colorado.

We spent 2 nights at Solid Rock RV Park in Eastland (between Fort Worth and Abilene) to visit with Tony and Erika Dorsey (TravelTiger and MrTravelTiger). Tony is the Assistant Band Director at the Cisco High School and we went to the Christmas Concert at the high school. The kids did a great job. Tony too.

Monday we continued on to the Oasis RV Park in Amarillo. Tuesday afternoon we made it to Santa Fe Skies RV Park in Santa Fe. Saw a couple of Heartland rigs going east on I-40.

This morning we left early to get ahead of the snow. We had a little snow in the Santa Fe area that slowed us down for the first 40 miles. After that the road was clear to Pagosa Springs, CO. We're now at the Happy Camper RV Park on 160 west of Pagosa Springs. We'll be here for at least 4 nights - maybe longer - and then will continue on to Tiger Run Resort in Breckenridge. Just need Wolf Creek Pass and Hoosier Pass to be clear.

This will be our 5th extended ski trip to Breckenridge in our Landmark.

We're now at the Happy Camper RV Park on 160 west of Pagosa Springs. We'll be here for at least 4 nights - maybe longer - and then will continue on to Tiger Run Resort in Breckenridge. Just need Wolf Creek Pass and Hoosier Pass to be clear.

This will be our 5th extended ski trip to Breckenridge in our Landmark.

You are lucky you got out of Santa Fe when you did. We live there and the fog came in the afternoon (same day you left) and we currently have about 20 feet of visibility at best. Top speed on I25 is about 25 to 30 MPH. Most of the Truckers are pulled off the road.

We live just south east of Santa Fe. We never stay at the RV parks here so when people ask us about Santa Fe RV parks we don't have much of an opinion. How do you like Santa Fe Skies RV Park?

Dan - I'd also like to hear your thoughts on Santa Fe Skies RV Park. They have pretty good reviews and we may be visiting Santa Fe for two nights before the Sweetheart rally as we'll be in ALBQ to visit Nancy's half-sister at the end of Jan.

We live just south east of Santa Fe. We never stay at the RV parks here so when people ask us about Santa Fe RV parks we don't have much of an opinion. How do you like Santa Fe Skies RV Park?

Fred,

Our experience... we've stayed at Santa Fe Skies and the KOA. We like them both, though the KOA has more trees/shade. Santa Fe Skies is open year round.

Santa Fe RV Skies RV Park

Pluses

• Quiet
• Pretty close to the super Walmart and Murphy's Diesel across from Walmart.
• Easy to get to from I-25
• Open year round with heated water riser
• Good over the air TV reception

Minuses

• Our pull-through site was a bit short and utilities were toward the front. Had to unhook and park the truck sideways in back of the rig.
• The entrance road is split making for a tight fit between hard objects.
• The entrance isn't lit
• No courtesy lights at sites
• WiFi kept dropping - had to switch to our Verizon data plan
• No cable TV
• At $43 (after GS discount) it was pretty pricey for a muddy gravel site with a concrete patio.

We've stayed at Sante Fe Skies a couple of times. We prefer to stay at Roadrunner RV Park on the outskirts to the north of Sante Fe. Nothing fancy but it has long and large wide pullthroughs. Also has a some nice casinos ear by.

The Roadrunner RV is just a converted parking lot so might be OK for a overnight or a place to park the RV if you like going to the Casinos but there are much nicer RV Parks if you want to camp and hangout.

The KOA is right down the road from our house. Not a bad park but is closed in the winter.

If it fills the need then go for it. My comments were for people that might want to camp and spend time at the park.
