Time for my First Tire change on 2009 2950 RK

I've been tire shopping and I have considered changing from the GY Marathon to the LT-235/85 16 (G614 RST).
Will my original stock wheels accept these tires? Will I need new valve stems? What other issues could I be facing?

Any other brand recommendations would be interesting too.

I am new to the forum. This is my first post.

I believe the Marathon is a Load Range E tire, max cold pressure 80psi. The G614 is a Load Range G, max cold pressure 110psi. You need to verify that your current wheels are rated for 110psi. The rating is usually found stamped on the inside surface of the wheel. You'll also need metal valve stems.

You also need to check the outer diameter of the tires. If the G614 is larger, you could have a spacing problem. If both tires are 235/80 R16, the O.D. should be 30.7" on both.

You will have to look at the backside of your wheels.
Stamped or molded into the spokes you should see the rating.
You should see some numbers. Max PSI and/or weight rating. 110 psi 3750#.
If you plan to use a tire pressure monitor on the valve stems you will want the high pressure screw on valve stems.
If not you will at least need the high pressure brass/rubber stems.

Made the same switch after 2 Tox Max failures in 2 days. The stamp on the inside of the wheels has Max Load of 3580, no PSI limit. After 2 years, had one of five spokes crack on one of my wheels. Tredit tire has store 15 miles from me. Was told I voided my warranty by putting on G rate tires because their wgt rating is 3750 lbs, no psi mentioned. I have proof the weight on the wheel is 2300 lbs and I keep 80 psi in the tires because of rating and the tire inflation chart says it is enough for the weight it carries. The "potential to carry more weight" logic makes no sense to me. Tredit supplies tires and wheels with a Max load range of 3580 lbs or total per axle of 7160 lbs. Does this void the Dexter warranty on my 6000 lbs axle? Does the total weight load of 6 of these tire/wheel combos equaling 21480 lbs void the Lippert warranty on my GVWR 18000 lbs frame. Twice I have gone to Tredit with customer service issues and twice I came away with nothing but hard feelings about the company. Just be aware of issues with making the change. I would do it again considering the safety I feel with these tires.

I think a 2950RK is a Big Horn. If you have 16" 8 lug wheels you should be good to go with the GY614's. Look at the inside of the wheels for the marking.

Lou, you may have an argument with Tredit by referring to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act provisions.
If I interpret it correctly, they have to prove that you abused the product. They cannot just deny coverage by assuming that you did.
Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.
I'm also thinking that if they require you to use a branded product ie 80psi tire they would have to provide such.
I'm no attorney, I can barely read the stuff much less interpret it.
