upgrading wheels on RV

I just purchased a 2015 Prowler 285. It currently has the stock steel wheels 15x6, 6x5.5 bolt pattern. I would like to upgrade to some aluminum wheels the same size. My only concern is that the stock wheels appear to have about a 4.25 bore diameter, and the new wheels that I'd like to purchase are listed as having a 3.75 bore diameter. From looking at the trailer hub, it appears that a wheel with a smaller bore diameter should fit. Any recommendations on how to confirm the wheels will fit?

Thanks,
J

Don't think they would fit. I had a blowout, and thought I could use my truck spare as a second rv spare. The bolt pattern was the same but, the bore diameter was too small. I had to buy a new spare while on my trip and get it mounted.

Moved on to the next thing...
When we bought our Prowler P292 we had just put brand new wheels and tires on our previous Heartland Trail Runner bumper pull trailer.

The Prowler had the BlowMax tires on it from the factory and the new tires we had just purchased for the Trail Runner were the same size, so we had them swapped to the new rims on the Prowler before we picked up the new trailer.

I got the serial number from my axle and contacted Dexter. They were able to email me the CAD drawing for my axle/hub, with dimensions. Those guys are awesome. I got the schematics in just under 2 hrs from initially contacting them. According the drawing, the diameter of the hub is 3.62in. So looks like a 3.75 bore diameter should fit. Just not sure there would be any room for a center cap...

"off set" is the first consideration when selecting a wheel. "off set" goes directly to overhung load on the axle bearing, and wheel loading, your dexter drawing should indicate the wheel off-set spec, there may even be a spread in min/max off sets. Second the load rating required. From there you can choose your styles. In many cases the style you like is offered in multiple load ratings.

Please share the wheel brand and style that you are looking at, and the lug size from your drawing.

Hub bore is directly related to capacity. Size your wheels to capacity and the hub will be correct.
