Very enlightening wiring job we found when our microwave quit

hope you have enough spare wire to cut off those ends ; then twist the wire together before installing the new wire nuts. As a retired industrial electrician I always did that & then taped around the wires & wire nut. You are lucky there wasn't a fire!!!

I posted in my first year a very similar issue found at the shore cord to house wiring J box. Lack of enough stripped/exposed wire, and or lack of good wire to wire contact within the wire nut can cause this. Shorting connections can lead to heat can lead to your blackened and partial smoldered mess.Surge_Protect (1).JPGSurge_Protect (2).JPGSurge_Protect (3).JPG

There is a newer type of circuit breaker (sort of like a GFCI) that has electronic technology to sense an arcing poor connection and shut off the power. Only problem is now you have no voltage to a circuit, and still have to track down where the arcing connection is.

Just asking, cause I don’t know. Would the Wago connectors be a better/good option.
